Genelec updates software, firmware and API for Smart IP loudspeaker family
Now, as well as providing compatibility with the pioneering new 3440A Smart IP PoE subwoofer, Smart IP Manager features a number of interface updates, improvements and bug fixes. The default 3440A subwoofer crossover frequency is 85 Hz, but can be adjusted within the Smart IP Manager software – along with subwoofer playback level and time delay. Since the system uses distributed bass management, this avoids the need for high pass filtering within the subwoofer, and allows the subwoofer and loudspeakers to be fed in parallel if required.
These new refinements bring even more power to Smart IP Manager, which already enables installers to configure an almost unlimited number of Smart IP rooms, zones, loudspeakers, and audio channels, and supports system organisation, loudspeaker status monitoring, and offers a versatile room equalisation tool set.
By supporting Multicast IP messaging, the new extensions to the API and updated firmware now deliver even greater speed and efficiency. The API enables tight integration with third-party control systems and has been a significant feature of Smart IP loudspeakers since the family was launched in 2019, providing the user with convenient control of simple day-to-day functions.
To guarantee the highest levels of performance, Genelec recommends all Smart IP users to download the latest Smart IP Manager software (v. 1.0.34), plus updating to the latest firmware (34X0 1.1.0, 44X0 1.4.0) for all loudspeakers in the system. Additionally, to assist with integration, the latest drivers can also be accessed via the link below.
