Finnish manufacturer and global reference in active audio monitoring, Genelec, has appointed new Business Development Manager for Brazil, Giovanni Asselta, following his more than a decade of award-winning success at Dolby.

As of 1 January 2026, one of the most highly regarded professionals in the audio industry across Latin America has joined the Genelec family. After leading Dolby’s operations in the region for over a decade, Giovanni Asselta has begun a new professional chapter at Genelec as Business Development Manager. Based in Brazil, his main objective is to drive this key market, which is central to the brand’s future growth in South America.

With Giovanni Asselta on board, the Finnish manufacturer – world leader in the design and manufacture of active audio monitoring systems – expects to open up new markets, while also strengthening long-established sectors such as broadcast, music and audiovisual production studios. Alongside these, Genelec aims to develop a range of additional markets, including residential, corporate and commercial installations, with notable references already in place, such as the latest stores opened in 2025 by Swedish brand H&M in Campinas and São Paulo.

At Dolby’s Latin American headquarters in São Paulo, Giovanni has been using Genelec SAM™ Systems since joining the global immersive audio leader from TV Record. As a manager at Dolby, he helped drive the first live Dolby Atmos broadcasts from landmark events such as Rock in Rio and the Carnival celebrations in Rio de Janeiro, working closely with pioneering engineers at TV Globo.

In addition, the majority of Dolby Atmos mixing studios across the region – from Mexico to Argentina – have passed through his hands, significantly contributing to the advancement of immersive audio throughout Latin America. Many of these projects were implemented using Genelec audio monitoring, meaning his knowledge of the brand is long-standing. This has also given him extensive insight into multiple market segments and audio applications.

“After more than 10 years at Dolby, I’m very happy to have the opportunity to join Genelec’s team. I’m passionate about challenges, and I believe I can contribute significantly to the growth of our partners in this region,” says Giovanni Asselta regarding his move to Genelec.

“Bringing Giovanni into the Genelec family is a safe bet, ensuring we can give the Brazilian market the attention it requires and develop it to the level expected as one of the world’s largest economies,” explains Miguel Domínguez, Head of Ibero-America at Genelec.

Giovanni Asselta will provide technical and commercial support in close cooperation with Genelec’s existing partners in Brazil, Qi Entertainment, AV Pro and Savana. He will also support neighboring countries such as Paraguay (AW Acoustic Design), Bolivia (Acoustic Impulse) and Uruguay (Equaphon Uy), as well as assisting at regional events that require a stronger and more continuous Genelec presence.

He will also play a key role in communications development – already implemented across the Americas in Spanish – with a similar approach planned for content creation and activities in Portuguese, supporting all Portuguese-speaking countries.

“This is an essential part of Genelec’s development strategy for Ibero-America,” confirms Miguel Domínguez. “We intend to consistently generate content that is of interest to our Portuguese-speaking audience and that supports the implementation of digital marketing strategies, which we have already developed in Spanish, so that we can build a unique identity across the entire Ibero-American territory.”
